Ethno Portugal 2020 Artistic Leaders:


Teresa Campos
Teresa Campos is a singer, songwriter and workshop leader. Born in Porto, in 1988, she has a degree in Education and has a special interest in Education through Art. In 2014, she concluded a Masters in Music with distinction, from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, in London. During the past decade, she has been involved in many educational and community projects - in Portugal, England, Argentina, Israel and Japan - and has participated as a soloist in several musical groups, in the areas of traditional music, popular music and jazz, and on more than a dozen CDs. She has also collaborated, since 2012, with the Dutch theater company Gehring & Ketelaars, composing music for theater plays and performing it live on stage, during her public presentation in Amsterdam and In London. Currently, in addition to conducting voice workshops in several countries, she works, in Portugal, with the Portuguese female vocal group “Sopa de Pedra”, dedicated to collecting and singing capella songs with traditional roots, and in London, with electronic musician Chiel Buscher.



Denys Stetsenko
Denys Stetsenko, a native of Ukraine, has been learning classical music since he was a little boy and from 2003 he started in traditional and improvised music by joining the group Monte Lunai and Dancing Strings and participating in several European music and dance festivals around the world. Graduated in Violin by the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, and attended the Master Course in Ancient Music - Baroque Violin at the Superior School of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE) of Porto. He is a founding member of the Arabesque Quartet, Duo Stetsenko, Fávola d'Argo and Parapente700. During the years 2011-2014 he was a professor at ESMAE do Porto, assistant to Amandine Beyer. He teaches Violin and Chamber Music at the Santa Cecília Music Academy and Lisbon Conservatory. As a trainer, he has guided courses on traditional instrumental music, namely: Baltoques (Tradballs, Lisbon) Conservatorio de Córdoba (2011, 2014), Crisol de Cuerda 2013 (Burgos) and several in Madrid; as well as the Andanças (Portugal), Folkarria (Spain) and Festiv’Alzen (France) festivals.



Juan de La Fuente
Juan de la Fuente was born in Madrid. He started his musical training at the School of Creative Music in Madrid, in Afro-Cuban percussion, with Juan Viera. He studied harmony with Nacho Mastretta, Miguel Marcos and Felix Santos and music production with sound engineer Ernesto "Tito" Saavedra. He extended his study by different musical styles and percussion instruments in a self-taught way, specializing in traditional music (Latin, Central European and Iberian) and Flamenco. He worked in different formations such as Iratxo (Rock), El infome de Walter (Fusion), Karaemba (Fusion), Milion Dollar Band (Balkan Music), Murga Express (Belgian), Parapente700 (Folk), Decker-Parmenter (Folk). Currently, he combines his percussion work and music producer in Quartet Ombú (Progressive Folk), Trineo (electro-acoustic), Martina Quiere Bailar (Folk) and Rasa Percussion (Ethnic Jazz) and Pyramid Blue (Afrobeat).




Nils Peschanski
Nils Peschanski, apart from being a former Ethno & Ethnofonik participant, is a keyboard player in many rock/hiphop/electro bands in France like Noflipe, Le Vasco & GLOBAL NETWORK, with which he performed throughout all France and Europe and in renowned festivals such as the Transmusicales de Rennes, the Printemps de Bourges, the Great Escape in Brighton or Eurosonic in Groningen. He is also keyboard teacher in French conservatoires. It'll be his fourth time leading an Ethno, after leading Ethno France 2019 and 2020 and Ethno Croatia 2019, with loads of musical ideas from all his various experiences.

Dance Artistic Leader:


Catarina Ascensão 
Graduated in Contemporary Dance / Choreography (2006) in Portugal, and having attended the Master in Education through Art - Theater, Catarina develops her work between performance (creation and interpretation) and teaching. At the same time, she makes a journey of holistic deepening (chigong, Taoism, vibrational medicine, food as medicine) and handicrafts (binding / pyrography). Until 2011 she worked as a freelancer, mainly in Portugal, in several companies (dance / theater) and schools. In 2012 she decided to interrupt this journey and started a journey that continues today, deepening this holistic research, between India, France and Portugal, and finding bridges between her work and a real interest in the connection between movement / art / life / health. Also in 2012, she rediscovers the world of dance and traditional music, finding a new passion. Since then he has conducted several workshops / courses in this context. She is co-organizer of Resitrad, develops the Pendulum project, with Daniel Detammaecker and is co-organizer of Le Bal Détourné, also assuming her artistic direction.ca.
